Feng-Yuan Zhang graduated with Honors from Nanjing University of Aeronautics
and Astronautics in China, with B. S. and M. S. in 1987 and 1990, respectively,
and participated researches on space thermal science and observation at Beijing
Institute of Space Machine and Electricity in China. He received his Ph.D.
in Micro System Engineering in 1999 from Nagoya University in Japan and joined
Venture Business Laboratory there as Research Associate on simultaneous measurements
of velocity, temperature and concentration in hypersonic flow with laser spectroscopy.
From January of 2001, Dr Zhang was Assistant Professor of Aerospace Engineering
at Nagoya University in Japan, where he developed laboratory-scale pulse detonation
engines. He did researches on active control of laser spectroscopy on hypersonic
flow and combustion in Mechanical Engineering department at Stanford University
from September of 2002. In March, 2003, he joined UCLA Institute for Cell
Mimetic Space Exploration (CMISE) to study bio micro mixers and MEMS.
