Probe Design

In this section of the project we will determine the optimal probes and conditions for detection of pathogen-specific bacterial nucleic acids on the microsensor surface. Universal bacterial and species-specific probes for relatively abundant rRNA target will be tested. In addition, we will examine the level of sensitivity needed for detection of less abundant virulence factor and antibiotic resistance determinant mRNA.
