Microfluidics

In this section of the project we will identify the microfluidics principles that promote rapid and efficient isolation of pathogens and their nucleic acids. Cross-flow filtration will separate bacteria from other urinary contents and concentrate bacteria from urine samples. Micromixers will be developed to facilitate rapid hybridization of target nucleic acids on the sensor surface. An effective washing process will be developed for the sensor surface to minimize the signal-to-noise ratio.
