Award Description

Stewart and Lynda Resnick in conjunction with the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the UCLA Department of Urology are proud to announce the Young Investigator Award funding opportunity. These awards seek to provide financial support to investigators with a dedicated interest in prostate cancer research. Proposals with emphasis on the use of translational research will be given priority; however, compelling proposals that make use of basic science will be considered as well. Proposals will be accepted from researchers who already have a proven interest in prostate cancer. However, investigators who have an interest in changing their research objectives to that of prostate cancer will also be considered.

Two (2) awards will be given in the amount of $50,000 per year, renewable for up to three (3) years.

• Applicant should be within six-years following completion of a professional degree or clinical training such as MD, PhD, MD-PhD, MPH, or equivalent.
• Postdoctoral fellows will also be considered.
• A research proposal no greater than ten (10) pages is required. The first page should contain the name of the applicant with complete mailing address including campus mail code, phone and fax numbers and e-mail address, plus a half-page abstract that clearly states the project’s hypothesis, its importance to prostate cancer, the specific aims and the proposed experimental approach. The ten-page limit applies only to the proposal.
• Two letters of support indicating the applicant’s strengths and potential to become an independent investigator.
• The applicant’s NIH biosketch.
• A one-page budget with justification
